About this project
Men between the age of 30 and 55 are a vulnerable demographic in terms of mental problems, substance abuse, homelessness or other social problems. Because of these reasons some are finding it difficult to find their direction in life.
Prior to the establishment of ECCA Family Foundation, Christian Algot Enevoldsen supported a pre-pilot project targeting a small group of men in the demographic who were struggling with these or similar challenges in their lives. The pre-pilot was conducted from 2018 – 2020.
The pre-pilot project explored a multitude of approaches including coaching, group interventions and mindfulness in a process tailored to the individual participant. It was successful in terms both of how the men involved improved their situation and in terms of cost compared to similar efforts. A prerequisite for success in the pre-pilot was the motivation of the participants and their wish and ability (with the help and support, which they receive as part of the project) to take ownership for their individual journeys towards a better life trajectory. It was also a cornerstone in the pre-pilot project that the men volunteered in local social organizations. This tool was tested as a means of contributing to others, finding a place in a community and experiencing the increased self-worth of contributing to a cause or someone other than yourself.
The pre-pilot project was very limited in size and highly tailored. It did however contribute important insights and valuable lessons learned, which will inform future projects under ECCA Family Foundation targeting vulnerable men between the age of 30 and 55.
Summary
From 2018-2020, Christian Algot Enevoldsen supported a pre-pilot project targeting a small group of Danish men in their 40’s with various mental, physical and social challenges. The aim of the project was to empower the participants to find renewed direction in life through a highly tailored support process.
